Mayday Parade celebrates its 20-year career at The Tivoli this Sunday September 14. The Tallahassee band will be joined by special guests Jack’s Mannequin and The Home Team, both from the US. Doors open at 6:00 pm.
Internationally acclaimed violinist Ray Chen makes his highly anticipated return to QPAC this Sunday September 14. Bringing his signature charisma, breathtaking artistry and the enchanting sound of his ‘Dolphin’ Stradivarius violin to the stage, Ray Chen will perform a captivating program that spans the works of Beethoven, Saint-Saëns, Bach, Bazzini, Dvořák and Corea.
Scottish DJ and producer, Franck will bring his high-energy, hard-hitting techno set to The Tivoli this Friday September 14. Known for his breakout EP Hear The Sound on R-Label Group and support from top techno artists like Charlotte de Witte and VTSS, Franck (aka Frankie Ogilvie) has quickly risen in the UK scene since rebranding in 2021. Odd Mob will bring his genre-blending electronic sound to The Tivoli this Saturday September 13. Known for hits like Is It A Banger, LEFT TO RIGHT and Losing Control, Odd Mob has amassed over 250 million streams and global acclaim with his bass-heavy, boundary-pushing tracks. Shake & Stir Theatre Co unleashes The Lovers – a bold, high-energy musical at QPAC’s Playhouse. Inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the audience will be swept up in awhirlwind of passion, mischief and magic. Don’t miss out, this production is running until Sunday October 5.
Leah Shelton’s wildly theatrical and darkly comic BATSHIT unleashes at the Brisbane Powerhouse this weekend. Fresh from an award-winning run at Edinburgh Fringe, this one-woman spectacle tears into the word ‘crazy’ with wit, grit and glitter, blending raw storytelling, pop culture and unflinching research. The Australian Ballet School presents its first-ever performances in Brisbane with NOW, a dynamic showcase featuring over 67 full-time students (including two Brisbane-based students). Running from September 12–13, the program blends tradition and innovation, with works including Balanchine’s Scotch Symphony, Entrance of the Shades from La Bayadère and striking contemporary pieces by leading Australian choreographers. It’s the last weekend to catch Opera Queensland’s La bohème at QPAC Lyric Theatre. In association with QPAC and Brisbane Festival, the Puccini masterpiece tells the poignant tale of love and loss among four young artists striving to live freely and creatively on the fringes of society. Outer Space presents its seventh exhibition of 2025, A Seat At The โต๊ะ (Table), by emerging Yugambeh Country (Gold Coast) artist Ellamay Khongroj Fitzgerald. Showing from September 12 to October 11, the exhibition reimagines the gallery as a place of gathering, where food becomes both subject and storyteller, opening conversations about identity, belonging and cultural memory. Onespace Gallery presents Fintan Magee’s first solo exhibition, Long Walk Home from September 12–27. Fintan’s large-scale paintings look to explore and examine themes of belonging, displacement and the feeling of isolation. Find more information on this exhibition here.
From August 19 to October 2, the Brisbane Quarter Atrium on Podium Level 1 will come alive with Matey’s: Diny & George, the latest large-scale installation from internationally celebrated artists Craig & Karl. Presented as part of the Craig & Karl: Public Art Trail for Brisbane Festival, the vibrant duo joins a citywide takeover of inflatables that will energise The City with colour, movement and joy.
Under a Modern Sun: Art in Queensland 1930s–1950s is currently showcasing at Queensland Art Galley until January 25, 2026. This thrilling exhibition displays the work of Queensland artists and those working in the state in the middle decades of the twentieth century, exploring the connections and development of modernist sensibility.
Wonderstruck is currently exhibiting works from over 70 Australian and international artists at GOMA. This free exhibition explores the vibrant world of colour, creativity and curiosity.
Don’t miss the final weeks of Vipoo Srivilasa’s exhibition, Iconic Figures: Devas, Deities and Divas at the Edwina Corlette Gallery in New Farm. Featured in a commercial exhibition for the first time, Vipoo incorporates terracotta clay into his signature colours to create a range of ceramic sculptures which draw on spiritual traditions as well as embracing contemporary pop stars and drag queens.
From August 9 to November 2, Da Vinci Machines: Inventions brought to life brings Leonardo da Vinci’s inventions to life across the City of Moreton Bay’s vibrant museums. The free exhibition will be showcased across Bribie Island Seaside Museum, Pine Rivers Heritage Museum and Redcliffe Museum, inviting visitors to get up close with Da Vinci’s work through hands-on models and informative displays.
Artist Mandy Quadrio brings fun and creativity to QAGOMA’s Art Box for Kids, running until October 26. As part of the ‘Art Box for Kids‘ project, Mandy’s activity Paper Treasure Carrier invites children to create their own unique paper treasure carrier to hold their cherished objects, secret finds and tiny keepsakes. Desire is a Machine is currently exhibiting until Saturday September 20 at The Institute of Modern Art. Curated by Institute of Modern Art Adjunct Curator Stephanie Berlangieri, the new show navigates schizoanalysis, hybridisation of the human and the machine and cyberfeminism.
Check out photographic exhibition All Shades by Kamilaroi artist Dean Saffron at Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. Dean travelled many kilometres to capture images of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from all walks of life. This mesmerising collection reflects 32 large-scale portraits, each image created in collaboration with the subject, location and story behind it.

Pint-sized curators are encouraged to create their own collections from a huge range of vintage treasures, inspired by MoB’s Precious exhibition with a series of colour-filled, creative series of immersive experiences and interactive activities.
Stroll through Museum of Brisbane’s New Light: Photography Now + Then free photography exhibition. The collection features a mesmerising display of photographs (spanning from 1890 to 2024) by amateur Brisbane photographer Alfred Henrie Elliott (1870-1954). These extraordinary images laid dormant for decades until they were discovered in 1983, stored in cedar cigar boxes beneath a home in Red Hill.
Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers returns from September 12 to October 6, delivering four weekends of blooms, bites and brand-new events across Queensland’s Garden City. Toowoomba’s iconic green spaces – Queens Park Botanic Gardens and Laurel Bank Park – will once again be a visual feast, joined by private gardens open to the public.
