From news of Anyday team’s first Brisbane City restaurant to a pretty-in-pink hotpot, The Weekend Edition is always on the search for the latest food news in Brisbane, dedicated to ensuring its readers are in the know. When we put our ears to the pavement this week, this is what we found out …
Golden Avenue, Brisbane City
Acclaimed hospitality group Anyday will open its seventh Brisbane venue – and its first in The City – when Golden Avenue launches on Tuesday August 26. Adding to a portfolio that includes hôntô, sAme sAme, Agnes, Biànca and most recently Idle, the new Middle Eastern-inspired restaurant will sit within a historically preserved pocket of Brisbane City. At the helm are Anyday co-owner and chef Ben Williamson and group head chef Adam Wolfers, whose mastery of Levantine cuisine will shape the concept. The modern menu features a range of delicacies cooked from multiple wood ovens and coal grills, with highlights including charcoal-grilled king prawns with black lime and ghormeh sabzi, charcoal-grilled meats, kibbeh nayyeh with urfa chill and sheep curd, and traditional Lebanese desserts. Designed by Jared Webb of J.AR OFFICE the space will mirror timeless Moroccan riad architectural form with glass panelling, pink juparana granite, green tinged off-form concrete and seven retractable roofs to ensure an abundance of natural light and fresh air. Keep your eyes peeled for our feature on Golden Avenue this week.
O Bagel is opening in South Bank
Later this year, co-founders Nick Jang and Henry Kim will cut the ribbon on a fifth O Bagel outpost on Little Stanley Street in South Bank. The brand has earned a cult following around the Gold Coast and Brisbane with daily house-baked bagels and satisfying filling combos. From slow-cooked brisket and house-made sauces to herb-flecked cream cheese and citrusy whipped fetta, the O Bagel menu transforms the humble breakfast staple into a crave-worthy go-to for any time of day. Whether you’re a fiend for a buttery morning bagel, midday work lunch or afternoon treat, stay tuned for more details to come.

Janus Deli expands to Slacks Creek
After receiving high praises from Gold Coast sandwich fans, Janus Deli is creeping further up the Pacific Highway to Slacks Creek. Founders Dean and Ryan have had this location on their radar for a while and jumped at the chance to reimagine a former roastery cafe into their third Janus Deli hotspot. The Janus Deli team is excited to bring big energy and equally big sambos to the Slacks Creek community and passers-by. Positioned a stones throw away from Swedish furniture empire IKEA, we’re imagining many cheesy sangas to be consumed on a sneaky weekend trip.
