The father of the Queensland Liberal National Party, Lawrence Springborg, has been cut from the leadership of the Queensland political party he once led.

The Goondiwindi mayor and former leader of the Queensland Liberal National Party has been ousted from its executive team.
Springborg was one of three party trustees.
āSince I have retired from state parliament, I have refrained from engaging in public commentary on public political matters,ā Springborg said in a statement on Monday.
āIt was a great privilege to represent the interest of LNP members as a party trustee.
āThe appointment of party trustees is a matter for the partyās state executive.ā
Springborg is an honorary life member of the LNP.
The party has been contacted for comment.
Its leadership was thrown into disarray in June, when damning polling about parliamentary leader Deb Frecklingtonās popularity was leaked.
Fingers were pointed at party president David Hutchinson and the so-called ābackroom boysā of the LNP.
Calls came from both state and federal MPs for Hutchinson to choose between his voluntary role with the party and his work as a consultant for rival politician Clive Palmer.
Hutchinson resigned from his job with Palmer, however MPs have maintained his position is untenable.
