Queensland Police said the 38-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound at a Wavell Heights address when officers were called out on Friday morning.

Police believe there was an altercation involving a large group of people before the shooting at the Highlands Street address, with a car seen leaving the area shortly afterwards.

The Wavell Heights man received first aid from neighbours before emergency services rushed him to hospital with a “significant leg wound”.

He remains in a critical condition.

The address has been declared a crime scene but police say there is “no imminent threat to the public”.

Queensland Police are investigating and urge anyone with information to come forward.
