Impedimed’s new broom sweeps through the executive ranks, vanadium company QEM promotes director, Anna Bligh makes a return to Queensland and more.

Medical devices firm Impedimed has announced a management restructure which resulted in “a number of people” leaving the company.
Tim Cruikshank will retain his role as chief financial officer but Shashi Tripathi will become chief operating officer. He was previously chief technology officer.
The chief commercial officer will be Mike Bassett and Dr Thomas Schenk will be chief medical officer.
Among those leaving the company are Dave Adams and Frank Vicini.
David Anderson remains as interim chief executive and director.
Vanadium company QEM has promoted non-executive director Tim Wall to deputy chair.
Wall has previously been an executive of Incitec Pivot, Caltex and BP Australia.
He was appointed as a Director of QEM in October.
Technology company Data#3 has appointed Cherie O’Riordan as chief financial officer.
She will replace Brem Hill who will retire at the end of December after 32 years with the company.
O’Riordan is currently the CFO and company secretary at Cardno. She has 20 years of experience in corporate accounting.
Former Queensland Premier Anna Bligh has become the inaugural national ambassador for Griffith University’s Institute for Glycomics and Rotary’s malaria vaccine project.
Bligh, who is currently the chief executive of the Australian Bankers’ Association, said it was time to get more aggressive in the fight against malaria.
The Griffith institute is developing a world first vaccine based on “whole parasite” blood stage malaria.
David Liddy has been appointed as chair of EML following the company’s annual general meeting.
Liddy takes over from Peter Martin. Liddy was once the managing director of the Bank of Queensland.
Brent Cubis was also elected as a director.
Australia Pacific Coal has appointed Mike Ryan and Ayten Saridas as non-executive directors.
Ryan has long experience in capital markets and was an executive director of Goldman Sachs, JBWere, Morgan Stanley and Citibank.
Saridas has held roles in Santos, Coronado, Woolworths and AWE.
The Winton Shire Council was this week welcoming Dirk Dowling as the new chief executive.
The council said Dowling had a career of 30 years with the public sector, working for the Queensland Government initially and then eight local governments in four states of Australia.
Dowling also found time to work in the private sector, non-profit sector, and even own and operate several businesses along the way.
The council said it was looking forward to working with Dowling over the next four years and progressing some of the initiatives already started and in the pipeline.
Former EY managing partner in Queensland Rick Dennis will join the board of ERA as an independent, non-executive director.
Dennis is a chair of AF Legal Group and a director of Brisbane based Motorcycle Holdings.
He is also a member of the Queensland advisory board for Australian Super.
Associate Professor Magnus Soderberg has started as director of Griffith University’s Centre for Applied Energy Economics and Policy Research (CAEEPR).
Soderburg is from Halmstad University, Sweden, where he was Professor of Energy Economics. His research interests include energy regulation approaches, data extraction from smart meters and other matched data sources, and methods for engaging including consumers in energy sector development.
CAEEPR was launched in late 2021 as an industry member-funded engagement centre in the Griffith Business School. It delivers simulation modelling to identify sustainable decarbonisation pathways for the electricity grid and applied research to improve the operation of the wholesale energy market.
Dr Jennifer Schafer has taken over as chair of the Brisbane North Primary Care Network following the resignation of Dr Anita Green.
The board has also welcomed Dr Jared Dart as a new director following its recent AGM.
Schafer’s medical career spans more than 35 years in primary care as a general practitioner, as well as roles in medical education (UQ Faculty of Medicine), clinical research (Wesley Medical Research), and medical reporting for broadcast media. She continues to serve as Patron for the University of Queensland Medical Society.
Suncorp New Zealand has appointed Alison Barrass and Kate Jorgensen as independent directors.
Chair David Flacks said Barrass and Jorgensen would bring additional governance and financial skill to the company which would be invaluable.
Angus Blundell has been promoted to Senior Portfolio Manager in Australian Retirement Trust’s capital markets team.
Blundell is from the Sun Super part of the merger and was previously with QIC.
