Kylie Minogue has achieved her first Christmas No.1.
The 57-year-old pop star has topped the Christmas charts in Britain for the first time with XMAS, meaning Minogue is also the first woman to have No.1 singles across four different decades.
âItâs hard to put into words how special this feels,â Melbourne-born Minogue â who has already sold more than 80 million records during her career â told Official Charts.
âBeing Christmas No.1 really is the most wonderful gift. Iâm so thankful to everyone whoâs been listening and sharing the love and Iâm wishing you all a very merry Christmas.â
Minogue is also the first solo female artist in 12 years to top Britainâs charts at Christmas. Her hit single leads the way this year ahead of Last Christmas by Wham!, and Mariah Careyâs All I Want For Christmas Is You.
Meanwhile, Minogue recently confessed that she suffered âreally bad migrainesâ while making her Kylie Christmas (Fully Wrapped) album.
The chart-topping pop star returned to the studio to revamp her 2015 festive record Kylie Christmas and add four new tunes to the track list â but battled terrible headaches during the sessions.
âWhen I listen to the songs now, it feels really good. It felt like Christmas, even if I was in the studio in tears sometimes because I was having really bad migraines!â Minogue told NME.
She also admitted that she had hoped XMAS would top the UK charts.
âIt would be amazing, but I honestly did not think about that when we first went into this promo. Iâve been so focused on everything else, wrapping everything up and all the other mechanics, but now that weâre here,â she said.
âIt would be nice. But also Iâm cool with it regardless because itâs a very coveted spot and crazy things happen around Christmas, so I donât think it is that predictable.â
